In February 2020, Mongolia’s vibrant children’s and youth theatre scene took a big step onto the international stage: the ASSITEJ Mongolia National Center officially became a member of ASSITEJ International, joining a global network dedicated to promoting performing arts for young audiences. This milestone was made possible thanks to the vision and collaboration of three pioneering institutions:
The Mongolia State Puppet Theatre, a cornerstone of Mongolian theatre tradition, enchanting audiences for generations with its intricate puppetry and storytelling.
Bamboo Children and Youth Theatre, known for its bold, contemporary productions that spark imagination and creativity among young audiences.
The Arts Council of Mongolia, whose support and advocacy have been essential in nurturing the country’s performing arts ecosystem.
Together, these three organizations formed the foundation of ASSITEJ Mongolia, creating a hub that brings together arts and cultural institutions, associations, and individual artists. The Center’s mission goes beyond performances—it’s about building connections, inspiring creativity, and empowering artists while ensuring that every child in Mongolia has the opportunity to experience and participate in the arts.
One of the Center’s flagship initiatives, the “Next Generation Mongolia” program, exemplifies this mission. Year after year, it fosters a growing professional community of children’s theatre artists through workshops, knowledge-sharing, and collaborative projects, strengthening the country’s theatrical landscape and giving young audiences unforgettable experiences.
Thanks to the dedication of these three founding institutions, ASSITEJ Mongolia is not just a network—it’s a vital force in Mongolia’s cultural life, championing the performing arts and the creative potential of every child.
