2026 is shaping up to be a special year for the Next Generation program, offering participants an extraordinary opportunity to be directly involved in the Wanderlust International Performing Arts Festival Tour and the Next Generation Residency Mongolia 2026, part of the Wanderlust in Asia Festival.
Next Generation Residency Mongolia 2026 is a 10-day creative residency taking place across Orkhon and Bulgan Provinces during the festival. Unlike traditional residencies, this program brings theatre directly to communities, traveling to different villages to present live performances to children—many of whom may be experiencing theatre for the very first time.
While the festival introduces theatre to young audiences, participants of NGR Mongolia 2026 will join the tour as active collaborators, researching, experimenting, and developing innovative ideas that explore climate change and sustainable living through theatre for young audiences.
This year’s residency marks an exciting milestone: for the first time, international participants will work side by side with Mongolian artists, fostering cross-cultural collaboration, creative exchange, and new perspectives in children’s theatre.
Next Generation 2026 isn’t just a program—it’s a journey of discovery, creativity, and impact, giving young audiences and artists alike a chance to engage, imagine, and inspire change through the performing arts.
